Summer Research Programs and REU’s Toolkit

This webpage is intended for faculty and staff of summer research programs.

Welcome! This web page is for faculty and staff that coordinate NC State Summer REU’s, Summer Research Programs, and PIs of independent summer researchers.

The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) will send an email each Fall to discern interest for running a summer program or REU.

To register your Summer 2025 program, please fill out the Summer 2025 NC State Undergraduate Research Programs-Information Form. This allows the OUR to share information about your program with students, communicate news about supplemental programming, and share all-programs requirements from a central location with program leaders. It also helps us coordinate supportive programming for you and your students. Please visit the 2025 Summer Research Programs at NC State page when it has been updated to view promoted programs for 2025.

Information/resources for logistics and administrative planning are communicated via email after registering your program.

Important Forms for Programs

The following information is required/meant to assist in completing paperwork:

Housing for Summer Students

Programs seeking to provide housing for their summer students should start by filling out the request form provided by University Housing’s Conferences and Guest Services. A Research Experience for Undergraduate (REU) FAQ-2025 document is available to help answer common questions. If you need additional help, please reach out to Olivia Sachtleben (okgross@ncsu.edu).

Move-In Date: May 13, 2025

Move-Out Date: July 30, 2025*

*Note: If your program will last longer than the summer term, please reach out to University Housing in August/September to discuss arrangements.

Campus Contacts

To help you locate the right people across the campus to help assist in granting access to campus services for your students, we have drafted a Summer Research Program Contacts List. We will update this each year.

Activity Listings for Summer 2025

The OUR will run a 2025 Summer Workshop Series in addition to the programming below. Students can view descriptions, times, locations, and register using our separate form (you do NOT need to register for REU programming). Any student who wishes to attend is welcome! We will take attendance should you wish to confirm an REU participant’s attendance.

Information about the Summer Undergraduate Research and Creativity Symposium will be available on the Summer Symposium website. Please note: due to planned power outages impacting NC State University Libraries spaces this summer, the summer symposium will not be held in DH Hill Jr Library. The new location will be determined and announced soon. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
