Your unity ID is usually your first initial, middle initial, and last name, sometimes followed by a number. (e.g. Heather King hking@ncsu.edu) This Unity ID allows you to log into many NCSU networks and applications. You will be provided with your unity ID and a default password upon arriving at NCSU. Make sure to change your default password the first time you log in. If you don’t do this, the system may block you from logging in in the future.
Computers
DH Hill and Hunt libraries offer on site computer usage as well as limited computer and tablet lending that may be checked out from the library using your NC State ID card. Please visit the library for details. https://www.lib.ncsu.edu/devices
E-mail
You now have an NCSU email address: unityID@ncsu.edu. You can log into this email at gmail.ncsu.edu.
Housing
Most participants will be staying in Wolf Village or Wolf Ridge apartments. The Wolf Village Service Desk in Building G (Gray) is staffed 24/7. You can reach them at 919-513-9653. The Wolf Ridge Service Desk is in Tower Hall and staffed 24/7. You can reach them at (919) 515-7434.
Internet Access
Wired internet access is available in Wolf Village and Wolf Ridge apartments. Computer Labs are available to you in other areas across campus.To access the wired internet in your dorm room or to log into the wireless internet across campus, you may need to use the Unity ID and password provided to you when you arrived.
Laundry
In your suite at Wolf Village Apartments.
Library
During the summer, you may check out books from the D.H. Hill Library (in the Brickyard, parallel to Hillsborough Street). You will need to present your campus ID in order to check out books.
Mail
If you are expecting mail during your stay please follow the instructions here for addressing the mail. To find out your mailbox number, ask at the Wolf Village Service Desk in Building G (Gray). Mailboxes for outside mail are located in Wolf Village Building G (Gray).
Gym Access
You can purchase gym access for $60 for the summer by visiting Member Services at the Carmichael Campus Recreation Center.
Meals
There are many local restaurants, campus dining options, and grocery stores close to your dorms.
University Dining
There are some dining options on campus during the summer. Hours of operation are typically limited in the summer, please use the link to see what is open on a specific day. Please see the schedule for hours and information. If living in Wolf Village, Fountain Dining Hall and Bragaw Convenience Store are the closest to the apartments and are open in the summer (0.7 miles walking).
Virtual Computing Lab
Log in with your unity ID and password to access lots of software including Matlab.
Bike and Scooter Rentals
NC State campus is full of Lime bicycles and motorized scooter rentals. You will need to download the external application and more information can be found here: https://www.li.me/
Outdoor Equipment Rentals
With your ID card, you can rent lots of different outdoor gear.
Campus Bus
Free to ride. On your smart phone, go to ncsu.transloc.com to see live GPS feed of bus lines. You can also download the transloc app called Transloc Rider.
